My teaching philosophy is mainly composed of three points. The children are the core during teaching, what I should do to be a qualified teacher and my expectations for classroom teaching.
First of all, I believe every child is unique and special in the world. As an educator, I will help children to develop their potential both mentally and physically, and assist children in discovering who they are. I will try my best to cultivate their ability of expressing their own opinions and ideas. Children need to learn to respect, accept, and embrace the differences among different people.
As a teacher, I will make myself to be patient, understanding, and kind. I can put myself in my students' shoes and imagine what the students are thinking and feeling, thus anticipating what they need in order to learn and thrive. When a student is struggling, I know that good teachers would hide their frustration and refrain from making disdainful comments that only make the situation worse. Instead, good teachers will try anything and everything in order to reach each and every student. I wish I could be a teacher like this.
Still, my classroom will be a caring, safe, and equitable environment where each child can enjoy and grow. Also, I will nurture children to become responsible members of our classroom community in such as class meetings, positive discipline, and democratic principles. Fostering various learning abilities and styles in my classroom is also my future educational plan. I will help students to grasp knowledge from textbook and real life. To accomplish this goal, in my class, I will make learning relevant to life. Finally, I will incorporate themes, integrated units, projects, group work, individual work, and technological learning to help children become active learners.
In conclusion, teaching is a lifelong learning process of learning about new philosophies and new strategies, learning from the parents and community, learning from colleagues. I believe my students may teach me to open my mind and my heart to the joys, the innocence, and the diversity of ideas in the world.
